Jakobsplass is located 930 meters above sea level. High up and free, with a fantastic view. Because we didn't build a road here until 1982, it was natural to continue processing the milk at home. The previous generation had cows and delivered butter. We started with goats on a small scale and started cooking goat’s cheese. We still do, as there is no milk delivery, and it is our way of utilizing the farm's resources in the best possible way. We cook using our own firewood. We buy some cow’s milk for cooking Søtprim and Mjølkeprim (our brown cheeses). They contain mostly goat’s milk, and about 1/3 cow’s milk.
The approx. 20 goats are at Skurdalsstølan (Skurdal Mountain Farm) in July and August. Opening hours: all year round. July and August (mountain farm season) reduced opening hours. Summer 2021 probably three days a week 12:00-17:00. Otherwise by appointment.
