Eggen Gardsysteri was established in 2001 by Liv and Ola. In 2020, Marius and Lotte took over. The dairy is built next door to the barn kitchen. The milk is pumped directly from the milk tank and into the cheese making pot. The milk is pasteurised before it is turned into the cheeses Eggen Fjellost (Eggen Mountain Cheese), Fjellblå (Mountain Blue), Eggen special (Eggen special), Fjellgo' and Salatost (Salad Cheese). In addition, we make a few local traditional products such as gubb and mølske. Craftsmanship is very important in our cheese production. The production has been certified organic since 2001. Next to the cheese shop, there is a small farm shop that is open during the summer. Most of the production is sold through Rørosmat.
Eggen Gardsysteri has received several awards for its products, most recently gold for Fjellblå and silver for Fjellgo' in the World Cheese Awards 2017 in London.
