Gårdssysleriet

Gårdssysleriet is a family farm at Ytre Hægeland Gård in Øvrebø that makes handcrafted products using milk from its own dairy cows. All the products we sell are pure natural dairy products handmade by me, Cathinka Jerkø. Me and my husband, Kjell Øyvind Greibesland, run his family farm together. A farm that has been in the family since 1688.

In the summer, the cows can go in and out to graze as they want to, and the heifers (cows that have not had calves yet) graze in the wild fields or on other pastures near the farm. The name Gårdssysleriet includes all the tasks on a farm throughout the year and reminds me of the versatile occupation that running a farm in Norway always has been, and still is. Historically, Norwegian agriculture is a versatile occupation. For me, it's a word that means something more than just work.
