Dovre Ysteri

Dovre Ysteri has a long tradition of making cheese. Today, globally award-winning white mould cheese is made at the small dairy, which is located in scenic surroundings in Gudbrandsdalen. Thanks to the former dairy manager Odd Stigen, who was inspired on a trip to France in the early 1980s, traditions from both Norway and France are used in the production of our Norwegian white cheeses. On his journey, he tasted a sharp goat’s cheese that had been deep-fried. Maybe there was a way to adapt a milder version of this cheese to Norwegian palates? Many tastings later, a cheese made from cow's and goat's milk from Lesja and Dovre was developed. This resulted in a piquant but mild cheese that became the start of today's cheese adventure at Dovre.

All cheeses are made from Norwegian, local milk and produced at the small dairy with 13 employees.
