-Kraftkar is a very expensive cheese for us, but people who have tasted it only want more, says Enric Canut. The Spanish cheese importer has ensured that the award-winning Norwegian blue mold cheese has found its way into the tradition-bound cheese nation of Spain.
From Barcelona to Tingvoll
Enric Canut himself sat on the jury when the blue mold cheese from Tingvoll was named super winner of the World Cheese Awards (WCA) in 2016. The following year he personally made the trip up to Tingvoll to secure an import agreement with the world champion.
- I tried to contact the Waagen family immediately after the nomination, without being able to reach an agreement, he says. In February 2017, he therefore took the trip from Barcelona to Tingvoll where he was with
the family for a day and a half. - In the end, we agreed on an agreement where I would introduce Kraftkar on the Spanish market, he says happily.
Character fixed
Spaniards love the Norwegian blue cheese, assures the renowned cheese expert. - We started the sale of Kraftkarsommeren 2020 and it immediately proved to be a great success among our customers. After we started permanently imported by Kraftkar, the demand has only increased. It is a very expensive cheese for us, but people who have tasted it just want more. Kraftkar is a characterful and fantastic blue cheese in the international market, emphasizes the cheese expert at Vinoselcion Wine Club and Ardai.
