<p>Gamalost frå Vik er en fast muggost med røtter helt tilbake til vikingtiden. Navnet har osten fått fordi den fra gammelt av ble lagret i lang tid på stølene. "Gamalost frå Vik" er vernet som "Beskytta geografisk nemning", og i tillegg har gamalosten fått tildelt Norsk Kulturarvs kvalitetsmerke Olavsrosa.</p>
<p>Gamalosten er et tradisjonsrikt produkt og har fått internasjonal oppmerksomhet blant annet fordi den er ekstra mager med 1% fett og 50% protein. Den er saltfattig og et rent naturprodukt. Smaken er særegen og robust, skarp og aromatisk. Osten er saftig, grov og skjærbar med kniv. Gamalost passer bra som pålegg og på flatbrød med rømme, smør og tyttebær. Server den gjerne med frisk frukt.</p>
