Stordalen Gårdsbruk

On the farm Nedre Tollefsjord, a small farm in the mountains on the edge of Hardangervidda National Park, the principle of self-sufficiency was important. Sustainable production, harvesting from nature and the animals. Refining and using all raw materials, not just consuming them. Harmony. Using both cultivated and wild land for grazing, variation in grazing and animals / co-grazing. So processing cow’s and goat’s milk was necessary and provided income for the farm.

Margit Tollefsjord is the bearer of tradition, who taught it to my parents and us, as part of the everyday work of increasing the supply of food and making a living. Inherited practical knowledge, together with expanded knowledge learnt later, is the foundation of the production, along with good animal welfare in grass-fed production. Respect for nature, animals and people. Someone needs to preserve Norwegian traditions, even in new ways.

We bought the mountain farm Bergstaulen from the company Norsk Hydro, as a grazing area for the goats in the summer. The summer season of mountain farming with daily production, animals, farm shop and tourism. It is good for people and animals to come to the mountains. So this traditional product is the backbone of our farm and business today.
