Description: A semi-hard washed-rind cheese that is matured for 3 - 5 months. It began its life as only a raclette cheese until we discovered that it could be used for so much more. This is a so-called 24/7 cheese that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. Of course, it's also great for making a raclette dinner, as it has excellent melting properties. The cheeses weigh about 3 - 4 kg and are regularly washed with brine during maturation to give them the characteristic red washed-rind crust that has given the cheese its name. We are proud to have received the Supergold award at the World Cheese Awards in Bergen 2018. That means that Rød Ku received the Gold Medal in the World Cheese Awards and finished among the world's 75 best cheeses. Not bad for a newcomer! Rød Ku recently also received a silver medal at the Norwegian Farm Cheese Championships in Gardsost (they are a bit stricter than international judges) and the cheese has also been awarded the Speciality label for unique taste from Matmerk.
