Flavour: Both mildly acidic and sharp. Seasoned with caraway. The flavour can stay in the mouth for a long time. It is a flavourful everyday cheese/solo cheese.
Description: The cheese is lean and protein-rich, made from skimmed cow's milk with a souring culture, and with added caraway and salt. Pultost is one of Norway's oldest cheese varieties. Made from unpasteurised milk "straight from the cow", separated, soured and then it is ready for “bresting” (heating to separate out the cheese curd) on a wood-fired oven, fired with birch wood. The cheese curd is frozen before it is crumbled, fermented, salted, caraway is added, and then it matures to become Pultost.
